May LePetite- Candy Bar Pinwheels |
Memorial Day weekend was a great time to be finishing this small quilt for LePetite! I really wanted to use fabrics from my stash on this one, especially for the border. It seemed like the perfect place to use one of those prints that I intended to use for a border someday, but didn't buy quite enough of it to use on a big quilt. The fabric I chose to use from my stash was America the Beautiful from Clothworks. All I know about it is what I can read from the selvage, so let me know if I'm wrong about that. This worked well with other fabrics from my stash since I have made a few red and blue quilts in the past few years, which of course leads to plenty of red and blue scraps. Don't get me wrong though, I did buy a few new fabrics to add to the mix!
Stash fabrics in use! |
Candy Bar Pinwheels, designed by Doug Leko from Antler Quilt designs, was fun and easy to make. The directions call for a Moda Candy Bar Bundle, but I thought it was a great one for fabrics from my stash. If you don't know who Doug is be sure to learn more about him! How fun to make a quilt designed by such a young quilt designer!
As always, be sure to stop by and see the LePetite parade at Sherri and Sinta's blogs in the next few days to see more beautiful quilts! I have already seen some wonderful versions out there! Thanks to Sherri and Sinta for taking the time to put the parade together! I'm off for a bike ride! Enjoy your evening!

Your Candy Bar Pinwheels turned out very pretty Michele! Love the fabrics you chose. Glad you mentioned Doug Leko in your post as the name sounded familiar and now I know why. He is going to do a trunk show at our guild meeting in September!
Very nice and I love that border fabric. It really is perfect.
Love the patriotic version of this le petite! Great border fabric too.
Gorgeous!! I just love your version!! I'm so behind!!! I just finished Brochante! LOL!
OMG! We match...all patriotic style. I think yours is much nicer though. I love the fabric. Good job and I wish I could join you on that bike ride!
Looks great!
It's wonderful Michele! Love that border!
So pretty! Love your border fabric.
Great finish! I find trimming up my units makes my piecing so much easier and more precise. I have been cutting everything bigger and then custom cutting for years!
Looks great! I have plans to make a couple for Christmas gifts this year.
Very nice work! Love the border.
Very nice. Which one are you going to make for June. I'm so far behind (I'm ashamed)
completely charming, I love those schnibbles. I bought the book and am working down the list of UFO's and quilts that come up to get to making one. Yours are gorgeous.
Very charming! I like the colors and spinning pinwheels. I hope you're keeping this petite to enjoy yourself.
Lovely work. The border is perfect for it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who buys the wrong quantities of fabrics. :-) Nevermind it teaches us to be creative with what we have.
I love your Le Petite version! Great, using different light colors and the border fits perfectly.
Beautiful!
Look at that...looks pretty perfect to me. Great job. Don't you like a finish???
