Brocante Schnibbles with Halloween fabrics! |
I followed Carrie's pattern exactly, except I couldn't bring myself to clip the seams like she suggested when joining the rows! Yikes!! I tried part of one seam that way, but I was just so afraid of cutting a hole in the quilt top or getting carried away and clipping the thread that joins the seam! And if you know me, you know its easy for me to get carried away with something! In the end I opted for pressing the seams open when joining the rows, but not clipping. I wanted to try more clipping, but I was just afraid......and it wasn't the scary fabric that made me shiver! Did you brave clipping the seams? I'd love it if you left a comment for me and let me know what you did. If you clipped, do you think it made the seams lay flatter than just pressing them open? Maybe I'll try harder to clip them next time if it worked well for most of you!
Close up so you can see the fun prints! |
One view outside because it was a beautiful day! Thanks so much to my teenage helper. |
Be sure to view the LePetite Parade on Sherri and Sinta's blogs in the next few days. I've already seen a few beautiful Brocantes floating around in blogland! Thanks again for leaving comments about clipping seams....to clip or not to clip......that is my question!

Too stinking cute! I love all those Halloween fabrics. What a great pattern to showcase them. You did a great job on this quilt.
This is just too cute! Love it!
Your Brocante is fabulous Michele!! Love your fabric choices! Yes, I clipped my seams, but maybe not quite as far as Carrie indicated. I don't think it looks any different than your pressing the seam open.
It's wonderful! Just love it...the fabric is perfect for this pattern.
Great fun! Love all those quirky Halloween-y designs in this simple block pattern. Looking very good!
What a fun version! I love it!
Wow! that is wonderful. I love that you used Halloween fabrics. They turned out great. I love it!
Color solution extremely accurate, very nice work.
Michele this is so fun! What a great use of your Halloween fabrics. I have to admit I didn't clip either. I wasn't quite sure I understood the directions and didn't want to take the risk, so I also pressed open.
AHHH!! I LOVE THIS QUILT!!!! OK sorry for the caps but my goodness this is just the best! I just love Halloween and cannot resist a Halloween quilt (or fabric for that matter..) I didn't clip the seams; I have a hard time being brave and clipping too. I just pressed with steam and it seems OK. Have I told you I love this quilt??!!!
I love it and I love the charms that you used. I would be worried about clipping seams too and I usually iron them open in that situation.
What a lovely top. Have you chosen an backing and binding?
I press open felt-felt seams so they flatter. With triangles, after the seam is sewn I do neaten up the little points which stick up above the seam.
Your Halloween prints look great in that quilt! And no, I didn't clip my seams either. Although when it comes to quilting time, I may regret that one. Lol...
Lovely Schnibbles. Great use of fussy cuts too. Absolutely Spooktacular.
