The February Minis and More Parade is today!
Last month we were finishing up some of those unfinished projects that we all have in our sewing rooms.
You know, the ones we started with good intensions of finishing only to be distracted by another project, a looming deadline, or maybe we just couldn't make a decision about the next step in the project.
Well in January, we pulled those projects out and finished some of them so we could start the new year with some finishes!
Let's take a look at the before and after photos!
Mary Laura is a new participant in our Parade! Welcome! She made this quilt eight years ago for her grandson and set it aside for an unknown reason. Only the binding needed to be finished. Isn't it wonderful? It's the Jack version of a Jack and Jill project from the April/May Quilt Magazine from 2008. Congratulations on a beautiful finish Mary Laura! Our UFO Parade inspired her to go through some of her unfinished projects from her 38 years of quilting and finish a few. She also sent a top away to be quilted while she was looking for some UFO's for our Parade.
Sigi (Little Quiltsong) pulled this project out after reading about our Parade. It was made for her youngest son in memory of their cat Sebastian who is still dearly missed. She added some cute borders, did some great crosshatch quilting and completed the polka dot binding. It was started in September 2015 and now it's a finish! What a wonderful memory quilt Sigi! It's adorable! I'm sure your son loves it and I'm so glad that you were able to finish it.
This is my Little Letters ABC quilt by Temecula Quilt Company from 2014. They were posting a letter or two a week on their blog. The posts are still available and can be easily located using the sidebar on their blog if you're interested. I had made another ABC quilt earlier that year by scaling down some Moda letter blocks for a baby gift for my son's teacher. After giving it away, I decided that I had enjoyed making it so much that I need to make one to keep. I came across the Temecula Quilt Company's Little Letters posts and I decided to go with these letter patterns for a bit of a change. I couldn't decide how to quilt it, so it was basted and just waiting to be quilted and bound for awhile. I'm so happy to have it finished!
I'm sure you'll want to see the other half of the Minis and More Parade on Sherri McConnell's blog, A Quilting Life!
As far as our project for February goes, it will have a red or pink theme.
That's it! Just focus on red and/or pink in your project!
This month we're going with a color rather than a pattern.
We asked for your suggestions for Parade ideas last year and I'm pretty sure this one was submitted by Patty D. from Elmstreet Quilts.
Thanks for the great idea Patty!
So, that's any project, anything you want to do, as long as it's primarily pink or red.
It would be a perfect time to make that Valentine's Day project you've been considering!
We hope you'll join us for the next Minis and More Parade on March first!
So fun to see these finishes! Thanks to everyone who participated!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes all of them! Feels really good to have a finish this early in the year and I already have some ideas for this month challenge:-)
ReplyDeleteLove the sail boats on Rick rack. So cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks. The only thing about the quilt I would do differently would be the rick rack. I put it on before it was quilted. The quilt lady had trouble quilting over it. So note to self if I ever use rick rack on a quilt again, put it on last!
DeleteIt is so nice to see all the beautiful finishes! Thanks for the push :)!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun finishes! I love your alphabet finish. That was a great QAL.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects and all the more wonderful because they're finished!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun group of finishes! I liked the ones on Sherri's blog too. Love the ABC quilt you made!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute bunch of quilts! I love the cat. :-)
