Mercerie is done, done, and done!

Coming up later this week is the next Schnibbles parade and I was able to get my quilt photographed today.

It's been rainy here and breezy too, but with a little help from my friends I was able to get these pictures taken this afternoon.

My Mercerie quilt is scrappy, different than the version on the cover of the pattern.

I used two charm packs from different fabric lines, PB & J and Juggling Summer.

These fabrics seemed to need a background other than white, so I went with a grey Daiwabo fabric for the background.

As I've mentioned before, I'm trying to get away from using white or cream as a background fabric all the time.

I tend to use them a lot even though I love quilts that I see with other color fabrics as the background.

Navy blue was another color I was considering, but I thought there were too many different dark fabrics in my charm packs for that.

I'm definitely going to try navy blue another time!

This new pattern of Carrie's was a breeze and fun to make too!

I used the Fit To Be Square Ruler that Carrie suggested.  I love that ruler!!

If you haven't tried it, or the Fit To Be Geese Ruler, I definitely recommend them.

I've used both many times and the blocks turn out so perfect and neat!

You can find them at Open Gate Quilts.

Here's one last picture where Copper decided he wasn't going to be left out.

He heard that Buster and Betty like to have their pictures taken with quilts over at Carol's blog, so he thought he'd try to get in one this time.

Don't forget to grab some candy corn or a cup of coffee and head over to the Schnibbles parade later this week.

Is it going to be October already??? I can't believe it!!

Sherri and Sinta will be showing lots of beautiful Mercerie quilts and announcing the newest project too.

I'm hoping it will be another newly released pattern!  Maybe one of these that Carrie mentioned HERE.

I sure hope so!

  3. Gorgeous! I love the photography--with the quilt in front of that great fence. I like using colors other than white and cream in my background, too. Whenever I do, people tend to respond positively. It is a bit unexpected but very effective. This gray fabric is really nice--it makes the bright colors of the other fabric shine!

  6. Love the grey! And the scrappy. I'm trying to be more adventurous with non-white or cream backgrounds...it is a challenge...but yours really works.

Handsome Cooper should be included in all quilt pictures (hehehe), he deserves to be just as famous as Buster and Betty.

  8. I love it, PB&J and Juggling Summer play well together! I also love your background fabric. This is the perfect time to try new things, on these smaller projects, but this new thing is a winner, great job! Mercerie did not call to me, I hope to be back in the parade next month!

  18. Gosh, what a great idea to mix those two fabric lines! I happen to have two Juggling Summer charm packs and some leftover PB & J layer squares so I am going to pack them all up in a Ziploc so I can remember to use them together. The colors look so good together and so does your quilt!
