I noticed a few weeks ago that the number of comments I've been getting has gone down since the beginning of July.
I'm sure you remember that this is also when Google Reader went away.
Because I mostly use my sidebar to read blogs, I didn't join Bloglovin' or anything like that since I didn't think I needed it.
I had looked at the Bloglovin site and read there that you could add any blog if you decided to use it. I took this to mean that this was the case even if that blogger wasn't using Bloglovin'.
I figured I wouldn't join because the way I understood it my blog could be added to anyone's list even if I wasn't using Bloglovin'.
It has been brought to my attention by a blog friend that she wasn't able to comment on my blog now, could this be because I'm not using Bloglovin'?
Is that the catch?
I'm just wondering.
I was just chalking up the small number of comments to everyone being busy doing fun summer things and me taking it easy on projects the last few weeks because I'm doing some fun summer things myself.
Now I'm wondering about it.
If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you would take a minute and try to leave a comment for me on this post. Please mention if you are a Bloglovin' user.
If you are unable to leave a comment, please click on my name on my side bar, go to my profile and click on email. Send me a quick note to let me know that you couldn't comment so I can figure this out.
It would sure help me. I love reading your comments and suggestions, so this has got me wondering.
Thanks so much!
I've noticed the same thing. I think there is a problem with Bloglovin and making comments thru their reader. I just use my read list from the dashboard. Michelle over at 'Quilts from my Crayon Box' has posted the same thing and requesting everyone to follow thru Google Friends Connect.
ReplyDeleteI follow you with Feedly. I've used it since Google announced it was getting rid of Reader, and as far as I know, it's not caused any problems with me leaving comments on blogs.
ReplyDeleteI read my blogs through my dashboard too. I'll go over to Bloglovin and try to comment a second time.
ReplyDeleteIt's not you, it's Bloglovin'. When clicking on a blog to view n Boglovin' it takes you there but you are still in Boglovin' and somehow that prevents you from leaving a comment and even following a link. That's one thing I don't like about Bloglovn'. You are correct, you don't have to subscribe to Bloglovin' for blog friends to follow you through Boglovin'.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm back through Bloglovin. I clicked to leave a comment and got an error message. However, it says to click to try again and I did and now I can comment. If people don't read it carefully, it may deter them. I think it may be the culprit.
ReplyDeleteDashboard works fine.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm back from bloglovin. I couldn't comment using it.
ReplyDeleteI still read your blog from my sidebar. For myself, I am just a little blogged out. Like to read occasionally and comment less often.
ReplyDeleteI have you on my side bar and as a favorite...I just tried leaving you a comment via Bloglovin (more like Bloghatin) and couldn't. Might be why my comments are down also.
ReplyDeleteI'm not tech savvy I just clicked on to leave a comment and was sent to blogger, to comment. I followed through GFC and switched to Bloglovin they transferred my list. I still read through blogger, I though blogger was GFC? I hope I helped. ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteI have been reading using Bloglovin. I have left comments in various blogs. So far, so good.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI access your blog from Cupcakes'n Daisies. I totally enjoy your work.
Thanks.
Pam
I access your blog from Carol's Crafty Creations and it looks like I can leave a comment. I love your work. Hope you figure out what is going on. K-
ReplyDeleteI now follow you with Bloglovin' and with the iPad app, I can comment just fine. But from the Bloglovin' reader, the frames make it difficult to comment on some blogs, yours included. Not sure why though... :-(
ReplyDeleteOh wait a minute! I think it might have something to do with the fact that the comment form pops up in a new window on your blog. Maybe the Bloglovin' frames don't like pop ups?! I think I noticed the same on other blogs that have a pop up window for commenting.
ReplyDeleteI access your blog from my Favorites List on my blog. I don't use a blog reader service, it sure is confusing.
ReplyDeleteI've found in Bloglovin even after you open a blog from your list you're still viewing it through Bloglovin (on my computer it looks like an extra toolbar at top of page, when it's like that I can't leave a message. If I close that bar (click on the X the blog I was reading will reload and then I can leave a comment
ReplyDeleteWhen I try to comment I get this first:
ReplyDelete"This content cannot be displayed in a frame.
To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame.
What you can try:
Open this content in a new window".
So I click on "open this content in a new window", and then I can comment. It's an extra step.
I am on Bloglovin and get your blog that way, but it does have to be opened in a new window since you are not using it. I think some people find this additional step too much for them. Several other bloggers have said that the extra step makes them not leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteI use Bloglovin only when there is not a place to sign up to receive updates via email. I'm not a big fan of Bloglovin. I received you update in my email via google.com.
ReplyDeleteI follow your wonderful blog through bloglovin
ReplyDeleteI came via a link to your blog in my sidebar. I'm not having any problems. This is the way I have always kept in touch. Sorry I haven't been in Blogland this month- the UK is having a heatwave, so I have been doing the garden a lot and having long walks.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog (and love it)thru email not Bloglovin and I am not having any problems at all with leaving a message. I think part of it is everyone being so busy this time of year. I look forward to each new post, thanks for taking the time to share your talent and creativity with the rest of us :)
ReplyDeleteI have you on my dashboard so I am ok
ReplyDelete..but anyone who doesn't may not know when you post unless they just check your blog often!!! Bloglovin at least lets people know when you post...commenting from bloglovin is more difficult...I check blogs there for updates then go to the blog to read and comment...I don't like bloglovins reader...
Hi there! Here's a friendly comment just to let you know that I'm just fine using my Google account.
ReplyDeleteHi - I haven't gotten as many comments on my last post either (but, maybe it was just a boring post - LOL!), but I do have my blog on Bloglovin. But, I'm reading through Feedly.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a blogger, though I do occassionally leave comments on various blogs. This one looks like it will work just fine with my google ID. However, there have been 2 or 3 times recently on various blogs that I cannot comment on. They all had some other comment type that I had never been before that.
ReplyDeleteI read blogs by saving them to my favorites, and just clicking down the list, or following sidebar links from other blogs. I truly appreciate all the bloggers who put themselves out there for my entertainment and education.
I don't have any trouble commenting on your blog, and I don't use blog lovin. I think comments drop off in the summer. I've found they also drop off more and more the longer one blogs. I used to ge many comments every day the first couple years I blogged. That dropped down to only one or two a day the third year and has stayed that way. I think people are busier and busier, and there are so many more quilting blogs available to read. I know I don't comment as much as I used to. I think this is really sad, as I love the connections I developed all over the world. I wonder what happened to all those people, as many of them no longer blog.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that I'm not as active with blog following and commenting in the summer but, that said, I don't have trouble posting comments when I want to.
ReplyDeleteI use Feedly and it was very easy to switch from Google Reader to Feedly. I didn't have to do anything special and so all my feeds moved over slick as can be.
I couldn't leave a comment this morning, but tonight--here I am. I don't know what is going on with Bloglovin, but am still reading on Dashboard which is more up to date. Julierose
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Bloglovin, I just use my dashboard listing. Hope it's just that folks are extra busy right now! I know I am! :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah I read you through Bloglovin then click through and comment.
ReplyDeleteMy comments are down too. But I never used a reader of any kind. I just hop into my blog and look at my blog list to see if anybody posted anything new.
ReplyDeletebut I think it's just summer and everybody is busy. :)
I tried Bloglovin' and am not lovin' it. I then tried Feedly. I like it better and find it a bit more user friendly however there are times it does not allow me to leave comments. Perhaps the fewer comments are because people are still having problems leaving them. Anyway I dumped Bloglovin'. So I read blogs but can't always leave a comment. Maybe if we petition google reader will come back???
ReplyDeleteFor me, personally, I've just been too busy to blog or to read blogs. Example, I'm just catching up on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI am having the same issue with my readers too. A bit frustrating!
