What do you think?

My Honeycomb Schnibble made with Terrain fabric.  A work in progress.....help!!

This is one of the projects I'm working on right now. The Terrain fabric has been rearranged many times.  Besides being a little wonky and out of place because of all of my changes, do you think this layout is finished??  I'm having trouble with it. I've been trying to place these colors for longer than I care to say, and I was wondering what everyone thought. Now that I see the picture, the two in the bottom right corner are bothering me.  Every time I go to move a fabric, there is a reason I can't move it somewhere else!  To finish by the end of the month for LePetite, I really need to begin sewing soon, probably tomorrow after the soccer game.  I'd appreciate your thoughts!  Thanks for taking a look at it!

  1. I have soooo been through this arranging blocks for a crocheted afghan when I make multi color flowers in the middle of the blocks.

I'll share my system which may or may not sound like a good one to you. My system now is to make stacks by light/dark or reds/blues or bright/muted or some other combination, then lay them out by either alternating one or two at a time. Surprisingly, that works out quite well. It beats sitting on the floor moving one, then moving another, then another, then another until I'm CRAZY!!!! ;)

I look forward to seeing your final layout. :)

  2. Beautiful Michele! Just separate the orange and pink in the bottom right handed corner.

  3. It's gorgeous! You just might be over thinking things. I've often heard to turn your picture to black and white when you're unsure of color placement.

  4. I think it is pretty. I really like all the bright colors. :)

Thanks for sharing it with us.

    God bless and keep you,

  5. I'm with you, those two would bother me also. Swap the bright pink with the blue and pink print that is three up and three over then I think you're good. Have fun sewing.

  6. Try swapping the orange with the light pink in the same row. Once you find a spot for the orange, don't look anymore, just sew! Good luck! It's very pretty!

  7. It's great Michele...I agree though, those 2 blocks...just separate those two and call it done. I've done that so many times...I drive myself nuts...move one and that leads to moving 6...LOL! So just tell yourself...I'm only moving one of these then I'm sewing them all together! I have to give myself that talk with almost every quilt.

  8. Sometimes we spend far too much time rearranging. At some point we need to stand back and say "done." Nothing jumps out at me as needing to be moved. Sew it up and enjoy!

  9. Everytime you rearrange, you probably will find a new area that 'bugs' you. Just exchange the dark pink with the lighter pink 2 spaces to the left of it and call it a day. I think it looks fabulous!! I like it because it shows off each of the fabrics used.

  10. I agree with everyone else, just separate the bottom right 2 and call it done! I am almost done with my honeycomb & to tell you the truth, I just sewed it together and didn't worry too much about the layout. I really like it and that's my story & I'm sticking to it!

  11. Agreed. I hate this part myself. Which is why I haven't even attempted to lay out blocks from my "Amelia" quilt. Okay, going back to your quilt top. All looks well with me except for the bottom right corner. The colors in the top are all so similar, you are going to have a bit of conflict. I say switch either one from the corner with something in the fifth row from the top and call it DONE and start sewing!

  12. I thought it was perfect until I read Mary's comment about the pink and red pieces at the bottom. Now I can't stop looking at those two. :-) Other than that, I don't see a thing I don't love. It's going to be a beautiful quilt!

  13. Switcheroo is a open-ended game, kind of like peekaboo! I have even set a timer once to come to a stopping point :)

I think it looks great and those two spots you mention look just fine to me!

  14. I know what you mean. Would swapping it for the one 2 up from it work better? I had the same problem when putting Vintage Spools together where I didn't want 2 spools of the same colour next to one another either horizontally or vertically.
